Micro-Learning and Stackable Credentials Presentation
An alternative credential or in some cases micro-credentials are digital certifications that verify an individual’s competence in a specific skills or set of skills learned by proving competence in a specific skill via a portfolio of evidence which can result in a digital badge or certification. Stackable credentials refer to when students or professionals are able to earn micro-credentials and can then ‘stack’ these credentials together in place of a university degree or apply the stacked credentials toward completing a degree path. This presentation considers the benefits and challenges in implementing these programs in higher education as well as provides examples of current stackable credential programs at different educational institutions.
