Online Course Design
By applying elements of effective course design, the four C's (critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication), backward design, and technology tools, I was able to build an online course while seeking and implementing feedback from peers at each step in the design process. In this course, students will have the opportunity to discover, expand, and share their ideas in the form of TED-style talks. The course will culminate in the presentation and sharing of TED Talks by utilizing technology tools.

Student-Centered Unit of Instruction: DDD-E Model
This unit of instruction uses the DDD-E Model for incorporating multimedia in student-centered instruction. DDD-E includes four phases: Decide, Design, Develop, and Evaluate. In this unit, students will identify and apply the necessary components in creating a strong claim or argument. After outlining and drafting a deeper written analysis in a multi-paragraph essay format, they will use it as the basis for which to study, brainstorm, and plan a way to present their points using multimedia elements effectively and creatively. Students will explore and choose the tool that works best with their argument and will develop a presentation piece to inform and convince classmates.

WebQuest
The primary purpose of a WebQuest is to build an inquiry-oriented lesson for learners. In taking this approach, learners are set up to interact with the assignment in authentic ways. First, they are solving a real-world issue and using problem-solving skills as they work through the resources. Second, because they are interacting with resources that are entirely from the web, this teaches learners how technology can be used in many different ways in order to access and interact with information or demonstrate understanding of information when analyzing it and applying it to new scenarios.

Subject Sampler
An instructional designer creates subject samplers in order to provide curated resources for learning online. Students walk through learning by exploring and engaging with instructional activities. This allows students to learn new information, apply their learning, and assess for understanding with clear resources and instructions provided. Subject samplers typically use curated mini-lessons, videos, and activities to guide students through learning new content. This is an authentic experience for learners because they are experiencing the content and determining how they understand and can apply their new knowledge.

TPACK & SAMR Video: Technology Integration in Action
This video overviews two frameworks that are often considered when making decisions about how to integrate technology within instructional design. Technology trainings often introduce and model new and innovative tools, but they do not always provide ways in which to practically apply the tool in order to align it with the instructional objectives and best practices. SAMR and TPACK provide a way to implement technology effectively within learning experiences.

Digital Storytelling: Why Instructional Design
Collaborative digital storytelling gave me the opportunity to construct ideas and build a design with others, practice script writing, work in designing digital animation, and combine many multimedia elements into a clear video story. In this digital story, we challenge people to consider how they can be a part of impacting change by designing learning experiences to help others succeed. As our society relies more heavily on effective online learning, the need for impactful and inspired instructional designers is critical and all different types of people with varied experiences could contribute to this field.

Principles of Design Infographic
Instructional designers seek to create learning experiences and content that effectively incorporate the principles of design. Classic and digital designers alike harness the principles of design to shape their work, building on top of the elements of design to give cohesion to their pieces. When used successfully, these principles have the ability to transform designs, both aesthetically and in terms of performance.

TEAse video
A TEASe video is a technology enhanced anticipatory set. The purpose of these types of videos is to engage learners and challenge pre-learning questioning through the use of digital elements that will foster connection and prior knowledge within the viewer. I used my video to challenge viewers to consider the ways in which stories have shaped their own experiences and how they can use their own perspectives to share their unique stories.

Micro-Learning and Stackable Credentials
An alternative credential or in some cases micro-credentials are digital certifications that verify an individual’s competence in a specific skills or set of skills learned by proving competence in a specific skill via a portfolio of evidence which can result in a digital badge or certification. Stackable credentials refer to when students or professionals are able to earn micro-credentials and can then ‘stack’ these credentials together in place of a university degree or apply the stacked credentials toward completing a degree path. This presentation considers the benefits and challenges in implementing these programs in higher education as well as provides examples of current stackable credential programs at different educational institutions.

Applying Gamification
Gamification is the application of typical gaming elements within learning experiences such as point scoring, competition, narrative paths, levels, and awards or achievement, My group presented in response to a specific scenario where gamification needed to be applied effectively in a situation where students with limited interaction in online educational technology needed to engage in a course within a learning management system. Gamification could help students explore the new LMS and have an interactive learning experience in a low-stakes and engaging way.

Instructional Design Evaluation Tool
Instructional designers must know how to gather feedback from learners in order to consider how to best improve learning experiences. To do this, they must formulate strategies for obtaining students’ views on their use of and feelings about digital tools and resources in learning and assessment. In order to receive purposeful and applicable feedback, the designer must be able to create evaluative measures that accurately and efficiently measure the user experience so that adjustments can be made in order to best serve the learner and support them in meeting the necessary learning outcomes. This course feedback survey models the types of questions that may be asked after a course in order to receive purposeful feedback as well as to determine if behavior has shifted as a result of what was learned within the course.

Content Curation Tool
This Pinterest board serves as a content curation tool that was used to collect resources that I could use when creating my online lessons and performance tasks. In order to consider what resources to gather, I had to evaluate information regarding digitally based instructional resources to determine what would best meet the needs of my intended learning outcomes. It is critical that instructors understand how to use resources that are already available to them in order to curate the best possible learning experiences.
